Boobies May Cry

Boobies! I mean Devil May Cry 4... Right, now that I have your attention on the subject at hand. What has gaming come to when the two lead characters are set to fight then a cutscene takes over and you just have to sit back for five minutes and let the cpu have all the fun. Well the beginning of Devil May Cry 4 is exactly this. It is honestly as though Konami think you're not cool enough to participate in these fights. Now thankfully, the rest of the fights in the game more than make up for this lack of control. That and the cutscenes are frickin' awesome...

Anger Management! or Prototype?

Well my time with Prototype has come to an end and the game did indeed live up to initial expectations, although the last few sections of Prototype did feel like running straight at a brick wall with araldite (look it up) stuck to your shoes. Prototye has a learning / frustration curve thats near vertical and doesn't come into play till you are around 6 or 7 hours in. By this point you are upgraded to the max and should be able to take on anything that moves - but still - I found myself almost defeated by the basic hunters a little too often.

The time was set - Friday 12th June, 00:10 am - I just had to stay up to finish Bionic Commando. I could feel that I was getting close to the end and couldn't resist finishing it before the weekend. I’d just like to follow up on a few things here from my initial opening thoughts and I must say say that the closing impressions are far greater that what was once thought.

The long awaited Prototype finally reaches retail stores and looks set to be quite an impressive 'anger management' game, tearing through hordes of military personnel, the 'Infected' and even innocent bystanders. Our protagonist - Alex Mercer - wakes in a morgue to find himself genetically modified with new shape shifting powers and a fresh taste for revenge. Throwing himself at New York and its inhabitants he hunts down those responsible for him being this way.

Bionic Commando - Mmm, Marmite

So thats the first hour of play into Capcom's new Bionic Commando and first impressions are mixed. Fist concern is the sheer quantity of loading time. Whether you have the PS3 or Xbox 360 version of the game you're looking at around 15 minutes to install the game to the hard drive - I suppose you could play the Xbox 360 version straight from the disc but the in game loading times would just be ridiculous - then a loading screen between each major section of the game. No game should have to load this much. It does get a little excessive.

Having not long finished Battlefield: Bad Company, the wait is now on for Bad Company 2. Hopefully D.I.C.E will get it right again and give us more of the same with Marlowe, Haggard, Sweetwater and Redford continuing their new mercenary mission, but build on the explosions, character development, and destructive environments.
