Boobies May Cry

Boobies! I mean Devil May Cry 4... Right, now that I have your attention on the subject at hand. What has gaming come to when the two lead characters are set to fight then a cutscene takes over and you just have to sit back for five minutes and let the cpu have all the fun. Well the beginning of Devil May Cry 4 is exactly this. It is honestly as though Konami think you're not cool enough to participate in these fights. Now thankfully, the rest of the fights in the game more than make up for this lack of control. That and the cutscenes are frickin' awesome...

What really did impress me about the new Devil May Cry was how damn impressive it looks. This is one truly gorgeous game. Even more impressive is that is not a jot of pre-rendered video - every cutscene is rendered with the ingame engine - stunning. These fantastic visual effects are also carried on through to all of the combos and special moves - of which there are more than can be counted - so the whole game is more pretty than a great pair of tits with cherries on! Woof.

I only have two complaints. The first is the repetition. By the time the credits roll you will have fought a selection of the main bosses at least three times - not counting the times you die and have to repeat the battle. This does get a little annoying but at the third battle you will be very adept at killing these bosses very quickly. The second complaint is the god damn annoying dice rolling section. Twice in the game the designers must have thought "How can we piss off our players and waste their precious time? I know, stick in a pointless monopoly style section!". No mr designer person. No. Go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect £200. Dante and Nero rolling a dice? Fuck off. Frustration doesn't quite cover it.

Overall I enjoyed Devil May Cry 4, Awesome graphics and cutscenes - check. Awesome special moves and combos - check. Piss-takingly annoying bits - double check. Just as well the gameplay itself is so complex and fun that you forget all the shitty bits. Well worth a purchase if you like hacking demons to bits especially as you can pick it up for under a tenner now!
